Certification Process

Becoming a certified Health Access Assister (HAA) ensures you have the knowledge and skills needed to effectively support individuals and families in accessing health coverage in California.

Our certification process is designed to be structured, practical, and accessible for all learners.

Steps to Get Certified

Step 1: Complete the Training

Participants begin by working through the full HAA Curriculum, which is organized into comprehensive chapters covering key topics such as health policy, enrollment processes, and best practices for serving diverse communities.

Step 4: Retake Policy

If you do not pass on your first attempt, you may retake the exam after a 24-hour waiting period. This allows time to review the material and strengthen your understanding before trying again.

Step 2: Knowledge Checks

At the end of each chapter, you’ll complete a short quiz designed to reinforce key concepts and assess your understanding before moving forward. These quizzes help ensure you’re building a strong foundation throughout the course.

Step 5: Get Certified

After successfully passing the final exam, you will receive your official HAA Certification, recognizing your readiness to serve your community as a trained Health Access Assister.

Step 3: Final Exam

Once all chapters are completed, you’ll take a final certification exam that evaluates your overall knowledge of the material.

A score of 80% or higher is required to pass
